Lodging at the Au Train River Cabin, a comfortable 2 bedroom cabin on the AuTrain River in AuTrain, MI near the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and Grand Island in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
The AuTrain River Cabin is nestled on a small hillside overlooking the river, the perfect spot for relaxing and enjoying the northwoods.
Just a few steps takes you to the dock on the AuTrain River where you can fish or find excellent swimming with a sand bottomed beach. Fire pit by the water for roasting marshmallows or cooking hot dogs. A 15' boat with motor and a canoe comes with the cottage so you can enjoy the AuTrain River or go up river for easy access to AuTrain Lake for fishing or boating. Canoe paddles, life vests and cushions are provided. Paddlers will enjoy the Au Train River trip. You can leave from the cottage and paddle all the way down the meandering river to Lake Superior. A gentle paddle through the wilderness of the Hiawatha National Forest.
Enjoy fishing, swimming, boating or some of the other activities available in the area. There are several nearby waterfalls to visit or back roads and trails for biking and hiking. The AuTrain Songbird Trail is a few miles south of the cottage at the campground - - nice hike and you can learn to recognize the birds by their song.
The AuTrain River Cabin has easy access to the snowmobile trails and groomed cross country trails are nearby. Try snowshoeing or ice fishing right by the cabin or go on a dogsled ride at Triple Creek Kennel, a few miles south of the cabin.
